How to Preview a Ship That Is Still Being Built
Nobody can take a virtual tour of Hero of the Seas yet, but you can preview most of it. Icon Class ships share a common design, so the three ships already sailing — Icon of the Seas, Star of the Seas and Legend of the Seas — show you the scale, the neighbourhood layout and most of the cabin types. Look at their deck plans and cabin categories, then read the Hero announcements for what is new.
- Use a sister ship’s deck plan to understand the neighbourhoods and cabin locations.
- Expect cabin numbers and exact layouts for Hero to be confirmed when bookings open for your sailing.
- Watch the itinerary: a 7-night Miami schedule with a private-island day is very different from a European season.
- Remember that first sailings on a brand-new ship can see last-minute changes; flexible plans help.
For Caribbean ports on these itineraries, Caribbean Cruise Ports lists shore activities island by island. For the full list of 2027 debuts across all lines, see every new ship due in 2027 on New Cruises.
Is a Brand-New Ship Worth It?
A new ship brings the latest venues and the excitement of being early. It also tends to be in high demand, especially in its first season, and its earliest sailings carry a small risk of a delayed delivery. If you want the newest ship, book once your dates are firm; if you just want the Icon experience, a sister ship may offer more dates to choose from. Our cruise advisors at Mister Cruise can compare the two for your dates.
